How to accompany dishes/the octopus
Boiled octopus (the so-called 'pulpo á feira') is usually accompanied by bread, wine and boiled potatoes (called 'cachelos'). Potatoes should be prepared as following:
Slice potatoes and cooked them in a pot full with water, salt and some bay leaves. Once potatoes are well cooked, add cooking salt, extra virgin olive oil and sweet pepper (La Vera, if possible). As octopus has fibrous flesh, you will better accompany it with red bodied wine with aromatic dregs.
